Create an identifier
POST/api/identifier/v1
Creates a new identifier to use for issuing or verifying.
All identifiers have an identifier ID used in credential operations
(like the issuer field). The underlying resource (key, certificate,
DID, or CA) has its own separate ID used with resource-specific APIs
for management operations.
For a key identifier: First, create the key using the key API. Then, use this API, passing the key ID and a name for the identifier. The identifier ID is used for credential operations. The key ID is used with the key API for key-specific management operations.
For a certificate identifier: Use the key API to generate a key and a Certificate Signing Request (CSR). When you have a signed certificate, pass the certificate in PEM format, also specifying the original key ID and a name for the identifier. The identifier ID is used for credential operations. The certificate ID is used with the certificate API for certificate-specific operations like viewing certificate details or checking expiration.
For a Certificate Authority identifier: Import an existing certificate
chain by passing the full chain in PEM format (where the leaf certificate
is a CA certificate signed by the key specified in keyId). Alternatively,
generate a self-signed root CA by specifying a key and passing the
certificate subject information in selfSigned. The identifier ID is used
for credential operations. The CA certificate ID is used with the
certificate API for CA-specific operations.
For a DID identifier: Specify a name, the DID method, and the key(s) to use for the verification methods. The system assigns an identifier ID and a DID. The identifier ID is used for credential operations. The DID ID is used with the DID API for operations like deactivation or resolution.
